Matt Cutts Google spam team head in latest video while replying to the question “What is Google doing to provide support to webmasters?” informed that each week Google receive 5000 and in month around 20000 reconsideration requests. Here is Matt Cutts Tweet
All know that Google reconsideration request is reviewed by human beings and can imagine how much Google invest in looking into such requests. Recently Google has launched a manual penalty viewer in Google webmaster Tool to know whether your site is under manual action or not. Now question will the number of reconsideration requests per week will drop or increase. Matt cutt answer on this question
I am of the opinion that it will reduce the number of requests. Recently we have seen in bad backlink removal work each and every webmaster whose site goes down in search engine ranking, may be because of Penguin updates or manual penalty thinks that by link removal and filling reconsideration request site will bring their ranking back. As a result of this there are lot of reconsideration requests filed each week.
To overcome such reconsideration requests Google launched Manual Action Viewer and you can file Google review request (earlier known as reconsideration request) only if you are under manual penalty. Now Google will show review request form only if your website is under manual actions. So the requests number will drop now.
